Roger Williams Making Arch Portal Entry 1

Making Architecture Exhibition — Roger Williams University

Bristol, RI

Photography: John Zacherle

An exploration of our core design beliefs, the exhibit was organized to promote a deeper discussion about the impact Making has on our studio and the world of design overall.

Divided into three zones; first, we ask the questions our profession is grappling to answer today, while potential insights are illustrated through KSP projects. In Past, Present & Future, we explore unique technical challenges and specific solutions demonstrated through models, photographs, and drawings. In the third zone, we highlight notable, constructed projects that reconcile technical issues while answering larger questions on our responsibility to the world as Architects.

Throughout this exhibit, we communicate the following viewpoint:

  • Asking the right questions establishes the foundation for creative and innovative solutions
  • Embracing failure as a means to success
  • Architecture has an obligation to express society’s hopes and aspirations
  • Listening to and engaging all constituents inspires design opportunities
  • Architecture must not limit itself to only technical or social solutions; it must be considered as an art
  • Architecture is about Making
