The owners, a couple with two young children, were dissatisfied with the narrow rooms and limited light of their existing residence. They desired an open plan where the whole interior space could be perceived.
Designed as a simple masonry and glass volume, the otherwise rectangular form is opened, shifted, and overlapped, which results in a balanced, unified composition.
With its open views, this award-winning house is a welcome break from the rhythm of adjacent townhomes.
