Crystal Tower
Chicago, IL
This speculative project was commissioned by Architectural Record as part of their "Futures to Come" series.
Inspired by Mies's glass tower studies of 1919–1921, we envisioned folded walls of clear glass.
A realistic speculation on the 21st century, our skyscraper is situated at Michigan Avenue and the Chicago river — a triangle where key thoroughfares converge. Responding to its prominent site with historic structures, we predicted that future towers will encourage street-level activity with openness and a design vocabulary focused on the pedestrian.
