Two of our firm’s leaders, Co-Founder Mark Sexton and Co-Managing Partner Tom Jacobs have been recognized in Newcity's Design 50 2024: Architecture list of top architects shaping Chicago. Decorated journalist Ted Fishman acknowledges that their leadership and vision have profoundly influenced the architectural landscape of Chicago and beyond.

“The Power of Persistence ought to be the title of our next book,” says partner Tom Jacobs. “From the moment I arrived at the firm [in the 1990s] I saw there were certain core values, and we talked a lot about the longevity of buildings.” Today, the longevity of the firm is a prime objective with a seven person partnership and an exceptionally talented team.

Mark Sexton, a founding partner, brings a deep understanding of Mies van der Rohe's principles “The partners here believe [as Mies did] that quality construction doesn’t need to be value-engineered and that you can meet a project’s goals for cost.” The belief that constraints drive innovative design rather than hindering it is key to the firm’s culture and embrace of complex assignments.
