Learn more about the Charles E. Whittaker Federal Courthouse
Our team is leading a highly technical façade replacement that upgrades all glazed exterior assemblies of the 10-story, 595,000-square-foot Charles E. Whittaker Federal Courthouse while keeping the building fully operational. The project replaces nearly 100,000 square feet of glazing with high-performance, bird-safe assemblies and incorporates protective design enhancements that significantly improve building resilience, sustainability, and occupant comfort.

This year, the team celebrated a major milestone: the completion of the primary curtain wall of the north façade. As the largest single portion of glass on the project, representing roughly half of the entire curtain wall replacement, this marks a transformative moment for the building. Judges and staff have returned to refreshed spaces, and early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The new façade subtly refines the courthouse’s presence on the Kansas City skyline, with high-performance glazing that enhances both energy performance and visual clarity.
Work is now wrapping up on the south curtain wall fronting the public plaza. More progress to come! Stay tuned as this landmark continues its evolution.
