Reflections — From There to HereFrom There to Here: Krueck + Sexton Architects
September 20, 2018 I 6 p. m.
S.R. Crown Hall
IlT Architecture, Mies van der Rohe Society and IIT Alumni Association invite you to join for the conversation with Ron Krueck (BAC '70), Mark Sexton (BAC ‘80) and Tom Jacobs as they discuss the evolution of their work, and its roots in their early training and teaching at IIT Architecture. The Principals will reflect on the challenges posed by new technologies, inspirations for architecture and design, and their work's strong relation to art.
Ron Krueck received a B.Arch from the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1970. He began his career at the Chicago office of C.F. Murphy. In 1975 he left the practice of architecture to study painting and drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago, and went on to open his first architecture office in 1979. He was a member of the faculty at IIT Architecture for 35 years, and in 2016 was the recipient of the Chicago AIA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mark Sexton received a B.Arch from the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1980 and he continues his support of the school today, by serving on the Board of Advisors. He received the distinction of Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 2006 and annually participates in the Bridge mentor program sponsored by the AIA, College of Fellows and Young Architects Forum.
Tom Jacobs received his Diploma of Architecture from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich in 1995. He first joined Krueck+Sexton Architects in 1997, and from 1999 to 2002, worked for Herzog and deMeuron in Basel, and in San Francisco on the New de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. He returned to K+S in 2002.
